A few years ago, a new "hobby" trend emerged. It consisted mostly of adults who wanted to be kids again and simply enjoy playing games without the pressure of a competitive gaming environment. The hobby they chose was called "Tinting." In the early 2000s tinting games were created by amateur programmers with low-end computers that needed specific tweaks in order for them to run properly. These days, however, the computer requirements have been drastically reduced and most developers now use software called Game Maker to create their games. These games are now widely accessible online with several websites dedicated to hosting them. When people heard about this trend, they were very intrigued; how can you make something that is virtually impossible possible? The question is, of course, how do you do it? The answer seems to be quite simple: programming. Creativity is the key, and the only limit is your imagination. Anyone can create their own game using basic programming tools. The best part of tinting games is that no one else will ever see your work! They are exclusively for you and your enjoyment. Your goal isn't to become famous or even popular—your responsibility is to create something great for yourself. The desire to create a tinting game is strong in some people. They will stop at nothing to make their own vision come true; some will even dedicate their life to it (they are called "tinting developers"). So the next time you wonder why you haven't made your own tinting game yet, know that you do not lack motivation; rather, I suggest that you need more time on your hands! All of the following games were created using Game Maker (except for The Lost Levels). Some were also made using Game Maker's programming language, Game Maker Language (GML). Each game has its own dedicated folder containing two text documents: one containing instructions and one containing an overview of the game's features. 1st place: One Screen One Life (October 2012)2nd place: The Legend of Jake (November 2012)3rd place: the adventure of tinting game (December 2012)4th place: RednGreen7's Adventure!- A Game for Tinting Newcomers!
